About Us

South Park Fitness strives to get you results by providing education, motivation, and accountability for those who are serious about getting into shape.

Our Gym

South Park Fitness is a gym unlike any other. It resides in “Fire Station No.9″, the oldest surviving fire station in San Diego. This 100 year old building has been completely renovated and is now one of the most unique gyms you’ll ever find.  It has giant wooden double doors where the fire engines used to enter. It has high vaulted ceilings with much of the original wood restored. The walls are covered in rockstar paintings from a local artist giving the space incredible energy. The gym has top of the line equipment, a semi-private indoor studio for core and flexibility training, a heavy bag, and a big backyard for outdoor workouts.

“I prefer this smaller style gym. There is a great mix of equipment and has something for everyone. Personal training also available for extra motivation and support. A+ in my book. A great local gym that has it all. I look forward to starting my day off right at South Park Fitness.”

South Park Fitness is not just a gym. We are also a result based personal training center that provides education, motivation, and accountability for those who are serious about getting into shape. Our goal is to empower you by improving your physical strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and balance, while reducing body fat.

I joined South Park Fitness recently and absolutely love it. They have a military discount, and no contract. The staff is super friendly and everyone seems to know each other and want to help. While the gym is small, it has everything you need to get in a good workout, and then some. There’s also a little outdoor yard area in the back, which is nice for getting a lift in on a sunny day. They have several treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. There is one squat rack, one smith machine, and one bench press, and then multiple benches throughout the gym for other uses. There’s actually a ton of other stuff too, but those are the major essentials I look for when finding a new gym! I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a chill small gym with really good staff. As an added perk, sometimes there are dogs there to pet 🙂

Fantastic gym with plenty of light and space.  The owner, Rob, is incredibly friendly and welcoming.   All the equipment you’ll need for an excellent cardio or fitness training.   Plus it’s not in a standard gym but housed in the old firehouse in South Park with high ceilings and lots of space.  Best thing: no loudly grunting meat-heads or rude narcissistic people in sight.  Everyone is polite, friendly and it truly feels like home. Oh…Rob has impeccable taste in work out music

And Roofus the goofy golden doodle puppy is damned cute.

“Great, neighborhood, friendly, small gym for regular people. Never crowded. Rob the owner and host, is as good as it gets. Could not ask for more. I started working with Mike Florendo, Personal Trainer, about 6 months ago. He is truly amazing. I don’t think there is a muscle in your body that he doesn’t understand how to make it perform. He has been assisting me with a chronic back issue, which he took the time to look ask for my X-rays, studied them, and did some research to find the best way to approach the problem. IT’S WORKING!

What is also amazing, is that there is not a huge amount of equipment in the gym, but Mike has taught me so many moves that don’t need much equipment. There is no way around it – a workout is work. State of the art equipment doesn’t make it any easier, and after all, that’s not the objective.
